Capacity of Matrix plants

The Matrix System, being a process, lends itself to scaling machines up or down. The key parametre is that of the rate of waste passing through the shredding process. As Matrix machines are not available "off the shelf" but are manufactured for particular situations the size of the machine, (which substantially is governed by the size of the shredder), will vary in accordance with the customer's projected waste stream, as opposed to having particular models.

However to give some indication the unit shown on the The Environment. page is rated at 180-200 kg/hour (396-440 lbs/hour).
The unit at Silverwater, Sydney,New South Wales, is rated at about 1500kg/hour (3300lbs/hour). The unit at the Perth, Western Australia, plant of Medicollect is rated at 800-1000kg/hour (1760-2200lbs/hour).

The company considers that the Perth plant constitutes the state of the art for the treatment of infectious waste. Images of it are shown on the The process in pictures page.

For applications of, say, 50 tons a day, it may be appropriate to have three units running in conjunction, to allow for maintenance down time and the like.
