After the waste is picked up
from the waste generator it is
transported to the loading bay at Medicollect's plant at Welshpool,
Perth. |
|
The waste, which is put into
plastic lined 240 litre wheelie bins, is collected by refrigerated
truck. |
|
The entire operation, after
loading of the bins into the wheelie bin
lifter, is automatic and controlled at the control panel by specially
developed software. |
 |
The bins, which have been
weighed, are placed onto the wheelie bin lifter. |
|
The wheelie bin is then lifted
and the contents tipped into a hopper and from there goes through a
shredding process. |
 |
The waste then enters
the mixer and is passed along it with a
residence time of about 4 minutes. The Matrix chemicals are added at
the shredder end of the mixer. |
|
Inspection
ports give easy access to the machine. |
|
At
the end of the mixing process the waste is removed by screw conveyor
for discharge into a compactor. |
 |
Cameras
permit the operator to see what is going on inside the machine. |
|
The
treated waste falls into a hopper and is pushed into the
compactor. It is now inert, unrecognisable and greatly reduced in
volume. It is taken to landfill as general waste and will not re-rot.
It has no offensive odour. |
|
The
compactor is positioned outside the shed on an angle to permit easy a
truck to manouevre easily. |
 |
The wheelie bins are washed and new
plastic inserts placed in them ready for return to the waste generators. |
